History:

This Black Eagle Mexican Historical Bonds were issued by a Supreme Decree of the President of Mexico Antonio Lopez de Santa Anna, who defeated the Texans at the Alamo in 1836 only to be defeated by Sam Houston at the Battle of San Jacinto soon thereafter (see Texas history below).

The bond was issued on May 11, 1843 to pay interest from June 1, 1843. Repayment was secured by 25% of all Maritime Customs Duties with the exception of those deriving from Matamoras. Their is also denomination is 10,000 Gold Pesos (the Peso was backed in gold from 1843 to 1845) 

There is only one denomination that is higher, the 27,500 Peso bond, of which only 9 are known and NONE of which is available for purchase!!

During the last decade, demand for this bond as a landmark historic document and as a potentially redeemable financial instrument has intensified to the point where financial institutions and securities trading platforms around the world.
